      Hi Folks,

is there a way of inputting a value into an actor, then getting that same value out of it a specified amount of time later, kind of like the Video Delay actor, only with numbers?
the Value Delay Line kind of does this, but its not so good at constantly changing numbers, such as motion tracking, there's no real control over the time gap from input to output.
      thanks,
      john

I think I got it wrong while reading. You are rather looking for something giving out all the numbers (the number stream) but with the given delay.
          Is that so?

yeah Michel - i'm looking for something that will output a whole stream of numbers, just a bit later, so that sexy little patch you made wouldn't quite work...

I went looking for an actor to do the same delay a stream just this week. Somewhat surprised it doesn't exist.

                Hi dbini

I don't know how reliable this version with the data array actor is, but maybe you can give it a try.

For motion tracking I would use Video Delay before Eyes to get tracking data delay.

The problem I see with Data Array is that you can recall the values in order they have been written, but you can not capture the timing. Unless you write and recall at the constant interval.
With the patch attached you need to have Gate closed when entering scene to get 3sec delay. It would be nice to reset all this when certain number of lines are written and recalled.

thanks for the help guys, i couldn't work out what was going on in your Data Array patches, but Vanakaru gave me a bit of lateral inspiration.

i ended up using a PanSpinZoom to move a short movie of a dot around the stage, tracked it with Eyes++ and a Blob Tracker, also sent it via a Video Delay to another Eyes++ and Blob Tracker and Bob's your Uncle: intentional latency!
(for some reason it didn't work with a picture of a dot.)
(i would attach a copy, but its a bit of a mess and i'm tired. goodnight all)

                        Dear John,

Oh man... that's an inventive solution! Let me consider a value delay with an actual delay in seconds. This should get made at some point. Send me a feature request or post it in the feature request category in this forum.

                        Best Wishes,

Can you send a new feature request, just in case it got lost somewhere.

                          Best Michel
