      Hi All. - I keep having problems (with my thinking) when designing video cross fades. I have 4 video bins going into an effects mixer. I want to cross fade between 2 sets of clips into the mixer, and cross fade between 2 sets of clips into the other input of the mixer. See enclosed patch. The method I came up with doesn't always work. I can't see why it occasionally goes to black rather than cross fade.  Is it my logic or perhaps the auto-fade actor?  Thanks!  - John

        @jjhp3

        Why are you using the Auto-Fade actor? Is it part of your visual aesthetic or is it there to try to help with the mechanics of cross-fading?

          @woland Hi - Yes, it's part of the visual aesthetics.

             Do you see this behaviour with the Auto-fade actor if you are just streaming in video at anytime?

            The actor is only processing incoming video, so it is much more likely that the video stream is receiving black frames as some point. Likely due to some bin change that causes a brief NON selection. You may need to ensure that you have a solid stream in place while you switch a non selected bin.. and provide a slight delay before switching your feed to use the new bin source.

              @dusx Thanks. I did add a very small delay to the envelope generators and that seemed to make a positive difference. I tested many variations of with and without auto fader... the added delay has basically fixed this problem. Setting the initial conditions when opening the patch is my next task. It's a bit bizarre when first starting up, though I bet that's the auto fader doing its thing.  Thanks again. The same patch has produced another set of questions and I will post them separately.  - John
