Try going Isadora > Preferences > Video > Background Movie Players and unchecking the little box. Does that make a difference?

@fred Going prores didn't quite resolve the issue. Coming back to the issue of odd bitrates. Do you mean odd as opposed to even numbers or odd in the not coherent sense. Attached is media-info screen capture indicating data for one of the videos. By the way I forgot to precise the After-effects work is done on a windows machine hence the use of Lavf57.83.100

Did you already submit a bug report for this already?

We'd like to nail down the cause and fix it.

      Best wishes,

Try seeing if converting your video files to Hap (or Hap alpha) has any effect.

I'm trying to play a video in a really simple patch (Movie player --> projector) in 2.6.1, and it won't play.

To be able to help you we need further information:

      1) You say that you've tried several codecs, but can you please give us a list or at least tell us one of the codecs that won't play?

      2) Similarly, can you give tell us the typical resolution of the clips you've tried? 1920x1080? Or?

      3) I assume you're running Isadora in fully enabled mode (i.e., not in demo mode). Is that correct? Are you running the USB key version? If so, is your USB key inserted into the computer?

      Best Wishes,
      Mark

       Hi @mark
Thanks for @artoo 's advice here i have tried to put the file on the right place and the software stop crashing again .
However the preview stage is still showing nothing. i have tried to test the live stream and it is the same ( even though i can preview the live stream in video capture setting )
I am wondering is there any way i can use 2.6.1 in this mac properly ( izzy 2.6.1, mac 10.9.5)   ?
      Thank you so much
      Oliver

I am new to Isadora and am having trouble with video playback. When a video is playing it will play one or twice through the video and then stop. Other actors will keep working - like wave generator.

I am on a MacBook Pro (mid 2014) with 2.8 ghz Intel Core i5 with 16 GB of memory. Currently running OS 10.13.3

      I have Isadora 2.5.1.

I have tried using video clips saved in MPEG-4 and Apple ProRes 422. Certainly wondering if another format would be better.

I am also having trouble when I "Pause Engine" it will often not allow me to "resume engine" nor quite the program and I have to "force quite" the application and restart.

Any suggests would be most welcomed!

      thanks.

      WMV

It's not the optimum codec/format for short videos or interactive playback.. it's intended for playing movies at regular speed. It will provide quality playback of long hd content if played normally. Additionally it provides small file sizes.

Hap is probably the best codec for smaller / Interactive content. However hap avi may not respond as well as quicktime for interactive work..  it's best to test for your specific usage.

      Audio out on Movie Player

I like to have a switchabel (in the visibility output properties) audio output on the Movie Player. If switched to visible audio is separate from the video (and can be manipulated, like delay etc.) if it is non visibil than the movie player acts as usual.
