Is there a way to iris down the scene to transition to either black or the next scene?

If you are running the latest beta, you may be able to find a GLSL shader that suits your needs.

Doing a quick search on Shadertoy for transitions: https://www.shadertoy.com/results?query=transition
doesn't seem to offer an Iris fx.. perhaps glslsandbox.
OR, you could use the shapes actor, to make an Iris to Black transition.

I always use Envelope generator with oval shape as alpha mask (from the shapes actor) and add some gaussian blur in the mask. works well and is easy to set up !

And depending on your needs you can Iris down to Blackout or iris up in the next scene!
