      Hi,

I have taken this about as far as I can go at the moment. It has been really interesting to explore the possibilities - particularly of the 3D Model Particles actor. I had not considered that it would be possible to manipulate individual pieces of mesh geometry from a single 3D file.  The links in previous posts have been updated with newer versions of the tutorial content. My previous post links to the tutorial files and updated PDF documentation. I am open to taking any questions or suggestions about the particle techniques represented.

      Best wishes

Hi Bonemap. great resources, thanks. beautiful work. i think that you and David Gumbs are my Particle heroes. I have a question about the Texture Map: Should the sprite sheet be default resolution? For my first attempt at animating textures I built a sprite sheet (of butterflies, as it happens) as a single row of 16 sprites, and then could ignore the maths needed to shift up and down a row, just had a Counter linked to the Column input. The results look fine, but this feels like cheating. Is it bad practice? Am I a bad patchman? 😉

           Hi,

Thanks for your comments. I am pretty sure you are one of the best patch pushers around!

here's what i made when experimenting with Bonemap's method of sprite animation mapped to a series of Particles:

Hi this is so good, I've just glanced through. I will definitely learn these techniques. I compose and perform with dancer with a focus on psychedelia I'n pretty new to Isadora and so far mainly trigger my own movies by midi notes in Ableton as the parts of the music shift (struggling to get precise synchronisation but been told Isadora 3 addresses this). I generally use the effects & difference actors to interact two movies at different positions using eg xor/diff. I've just produced my first user actors! I did a show with Kinect and particles with a friend and so your examples are perfect for my requirements. I use Motion and Final Cut for visuals. I'll let you know how i get on. Can't wait ... much gratitude Dave

O yes I'm a guitarist but compositions combine dance, vision, field recordings, poetry etc - total theatre.

Yes... the drop box folder is still active. The tutorial does need updating at some point.

Wow! I just found your tutorial this morning. I've been tinkering with the 3D Particle Actor forever and not not making any progress. I will study your tutorial. Thank you.
