what i'd like to do is zoom into an ultra high definition image with more than 100 to 0 steps and was wondering if combining panning and zoomer with projector zoom would accomplish this?

The default zoom range of the projector is already from 0 to 1000. You can change the scale max of it to 100 000 or more.
