Hi, is it possible to send midi notes from Isadora to a light board. I want to patch my rig on the light board and program most cues with it but I would like Isadora to controls some effects by sending midi notes to the light board.

hello, there should be no problem to do this with isadora.

it depents on the input side of your lightboard.

is it able to receive midi over network? in that case you have to use a midi over network software to send from isadora. so at that point also the way via a usb midiinterface is possible. if only 5pol midi in is possible.

some desks also have the ability to put in usb midi interfaces directly.

then you have to dicover the midi mapping possibilitys of your desks software.

        that it is.

@benny025 Yes, I did exactly that: the lightboard of my light technician received midi triggers from my Isadora patch. Worked perfectly

Yup! There are plenty of ways to communicate with Lighting systems using Isadora.

Let us know the brand / model of the lighting board that you wish to use and I will look up the options that you have / give some instructions 🙂

For EOS (ETC) I made a OSC (Messages over network) bridge to communicate directly with the Cuelist for example. Highly depends on the product what it support / how willing they are for 'outside' signals.

There are light boards that don’t function properly but this one is cool.

                short answer: yes

long answer: it's depend a lot from what light board you are trying to control. ETC eos family are better controlled by OSC messages. MA2 can accept easily midi notes (remember ONLY notes), i'm not sure but maybe MA3 accept OSC. AVO for sure accept MIDI but i don't know for other potocols.

BTW midi or osc controllig is pretty easy, start from following midi tutorial and guru session made by Mark
