Hiya,

That's really odd about the 2GB limit. Sounds like some kind of hangover from the old days of 32bit file formats.

In terms of export time, you could try exporting from After Effects to Quicktime using ProRes as the codec, and then use the excellent Shutter Encoder to encode to HAP format:

I would recommend exporting as Hap MOV.
AVI can have some issues depending on the transcoder used. It seems some encoders set file parameters differently and create unusable files. We are investigating this issue, to determine the best route forward for AVI usage. In the meantime, MOV doesn't have any know issue with Hap so I recommend using it for both PC and Mac.

When I try hap mov, it doesn't play smoothly in reverse.. it is jerky.. I remember having this issue and people recomended to use hap avi.. I tried it again using Shutter encoder but it is still happening.. You don't have a problem there with reverse playback? Do I need to change some settings or something?

Unfortunately Shutter encodere doesn't export in hap avi as I can see..

Have you switched the 'optimize' input on the Movie Player to 'interaction?

'performance' is optimized for forward playback at speed 1

'interaction' is optimized for backwards playback, live scrubbing, speeds other than 1, and other interactive things

In Shutter Encoder, you need to make it an AVI in 2 steps:

1. convert to HAP, which will default to .MOV;
2. "Rewrap" to AVI

It's inconvenient and I don't know why it works that way, but that's what I do.

@DusX I've not had problems with HAP.AVI when created using this method, but perhaps I'm not pushing the file hard enough? I've been running forwards, backwards and palindrome at various speeds, without issue. On the other hand, I'm using an extremely high-end Windows computer for this show.

 No this generally works well for me. I did however find a bug in Shutter Encoder, that will set the framerate of AVI files created to 60fps in some cases (unfortunately I don't remember the exact conditions) so that is one thing to watch for. I reported the issue to the developer and he confirmed it is in ffmpeg.

thank you! I thought that was only for crubbing! I will try that and see if it works.. 

There is another thing that is happening though, with a video with a perfect loop, it skips some frames at the end and it jumps. I can see it also if a have a player to stop playing at the end, the position never goes until 100. So the loops are never perfect..
