trouble tracking skeleton, urgent
-
Hi helpers:)
I have for two days now had trouble tracking skeletons with my Kinect. I can see the depth map, but it is really hard to get some proper tracking. I am working with 2 dancers and have tried to go through the trouble shooting. I have the Kinect model 1414, but yesterday I added the file from the readme - and I am wondering if this can cause the trouble. Yesterday though I also had troubles.
I can see there is bodies in the space but they have no color. I am working with a setup I used before, so I dont really know what this is. Maybe someone can help? I am on a Mac Studio running Rosetta mode. What would btw be useful to share in this situation? test-med-vertical-dance.izz
All the best

I am unable to comment on the possibility that using Apple silicone running in Rosetta mode might be effecting your setup, but, on looking quickly through your patch, i have an idea that may help:
whenever i have used OpenNI tracker in a sequence of scenes, i have run into problems with the OpenNI trying to reset itself every scene. Instead, I run the OpenNI in a background scene and pipe all the values i need out to active scenes using Broadcaster and Listener - that way, the OpenNI only has to initialise once, and the skeleton tracking may be more stable.
also - you seem to be running OpenNI in Background visible mode, then removing the background with a Chroma Key. You can change the 'Colorize Bodies' input to 'hide background' and remove the Chroma Key to achieve the same results - and this will not rely on your bodies always having the same colour. -
Ok, Thank you, - it makes sense.Equipment wise, Is it right that the Orbec is a better camera for this. It would definitely make sense to invest, if this is the case. Also just for making silhouettes move in the space in a higher resolution?...

@dbiniIn terms of getting another camera, is there also different versions to be aware of?

I wouldn't say its a better camera, in regards to how it works with OpenNI.
The orbec camera is smaller, newer, and feels more solid (it wasn't made for a game/toy), but the tracking and usage of the camera is very similar.
I beleive the Orbec and Kinect have similar resolutions. The Kinect V2, does offer improved tracking/resolution due using a different technology than the others.
