[SOLVED] Active video accross scenes, fade in videos in other scenes on top?

@fubbi Thanks, I'll check it out, though the activate scene actor is not the issue.

In the meanwhile I figured it out. The fade between doesn't work, but a ramp generator changing the intensity of the projector with the mode set to 'transparent' does fade in the video as wanted. Going out of the scene and back to the 'background loop' does work using the standard scene transition fades.

      @dassault787

Higher-resolution video output will tighten things up. Each pixel is very multiplied by the nature of projection, so squeezing more into the same space by using higher resolution images/projectors will make things much cleaner looking.
But if you really need to soften the edge inside Isadora you can create a mask using Izzy map with a white video feed, sent to a virtual stage that you then grab and apply as an alpha channel to your actual output. In this way you can apply a blur to the black and white image before using it as the alpha mask.. this will give you soft edges.

So we solved it now by downloading the "JS string length" from the add ons page and modifying it to take out brackets etc. in the JS. It works:)

Thank you for taking your time and helping:)

      Hi,

for those who might need a sound player with positional marker points, I enclose a working test patch.

for my latest project I pimped up the sound player actor with Javascript in order to allow jumps to markers and allow a positional slider (like other players as vlc). My new project is completely driven by audio positions of one piece of music. The marker positions drive the whole setting of video and light changes.

For setup and rehearsal I need to jump to specific positions in the music. So I designed the marker actor to jump to the exact position, and also to jump to the position 2 seconds before the marked position.

For testing purpose I extracted the relevant parts of the patch and added simple projections as proof of concept. Just use an audio file of your flavor and have fun with test sound player advance .

      Hi Gina,

This sounds like an interesting interactive installation! For triggering Isadora cues from the Arduino magnetic sensor, here are a few thoughts:

Use the Arduino Firmata actor to receive the sensor data into Isadora. You'll need to initialize it and set the input pin accordingly. Then route that input to a Switch actor to control the scene changes. For example, set it to switch to Scene 2 when the input goes HIGH (door closed). You can use a Timer actor in each scene to transition back to Scene 1 after a set duration. For automatic start up, you may be able to use something like a Powershell script that launches Isadora on boot up. Just need to make sure it opens in fullscreen. For shutdown without mouse/keyboard, look into remote login software so you can SSH into the Mac and shut down calendar 2024 from another computer.

Definitely try testing the Arduino > Isadora communication first. Once you have that working reliably, the other automation should be very achievable. Let me know if you have any other questions! Excited to see how this project develops.

to adjust the size before it is sent to the alpha mask?

Below I have used a Shapes actor in place of the Picture Player you will be using for a PNG file, but the rest should be similar to what you are doing. I have added a number of Get Video Size actors to show how the resolutions are being set, and combined (using default Isadora settings).
The Scaler actor is the actor used here to resize the image.

Yes, those actors (and any starting with 'AU') are components made available via the macOS (and some interface wrappers in Isadora). At this time there aren't any similar offerings on Windows.

I'll quickly plug my own tutorial here: Build It! Video Step Sequencer - YouTube
I think my Build It series will give you the best overview of 'building' modular elements that you can reuse (user actors). They are longer walk throughs but do offer some great insights into how Isadora works.
