      @bennnid

I always suggest a wired connection between networked patches because of latency and the potential of lost packets. I have some custom made shielded 40 mtr cat 6 cables that I use in the theatre for networking. Cat 6 is claimed to be good for 100-meter lengths. In my experience theatres tend to have a lot of network and electrical interference that can make critical wireless networks falter.

I  believe one of the reasons for the introduction of timecode in Isadora was for accurate syncing of media.

      "Reverse-Engineering Zoom with Isadora

      Site-Specific Performance for the Internet

      04 January 2021

Jared Mezzocchi has been systematically exploring what Zoom and the editing program Isadora can offer theatre practitioners during the pandemic. He has been working in the field for over a decade and has explored it from multiple points of view—designer, director, playwright, artistic director. As a theatre educator, he launched an MFA program at University of Maryland in projection design, and he recently designed and co-directed Russian Troll Farm, the highly acclaimed Zoom theatre production. We Zoomed in November to talk about the production, how to reverse-engineer Zoom, Isadora as the way forward, and more."

      Hi

I apologise for starting the fire and running away. Probably not good form! Just a couple of things on and the numerous plate spinnings of the day.

I will look to try Marks and others comments and go through the troubleshooting possibilities.

I am on a college network and have tried both a wired/wireless connection. These, apart from the obvious, have different connotations to the IT system here.

The content continues to reduce in quality over a mixture of set ups. It is  nowhere near as bad as the images from Sweden. I have tried this method from Macbook pro's, airs to imacs and the same quality reduction occurs.

I will trial the above methods and come back as soon as possible.

I must add that I think this is a brilliant tool and the possibilities are quite interesting. Please do not take the is as a criticism of people or Isadora. I have always found the advice, guidance and the program to be top notch. Felt I should sure clarify this as often shortened posts on forums can convey a different message.

      Many thanks

      eamon

Explored some more and got some feedback for everyone (still working out the kinks but figured I should report back).  I am currently using VB Virtual Cable which allows to connect virtual sources. I selected the virtual cable on the  audio out field in the NDI Watcher Beta and then selected the same virtual cable in the live inputs. This allowed me to bring the audio from the individual NDI sources to the live inputs in Isadora. Still a few kinks (the separation between the various sources is tenuous because of audio feedback and the responsiveness of the connection requires a couple of restarts) but definitely a work around!

Recovering Isadora 3.07 has been a big help in trouble shooting the stream setup to Blackboard Collaborate. I am still getting intermittent black video where it appears the stream is previewing in the Live Capture Settings but not then displaying through the Video In Watcher. After trying to pin this down, I think it requires a specific sequence of activation steps to maintain the through put of the video. I tried a bit harder with direct audio through the camera and can only conclude that Blackboard Collaborate is noisy and without a convenient way to monitor the audio stream before going live. I did manage some improvement by recording the stream and playing it back-that appeared to be the only way to know what the stream sounds like. Anyway after setting the sensitivity of the Senhieser radio transmitter to -24db I was able to reduce some of the noise. Monitoring audio through the camera sounds fine and through Isadora sounds fine, so my conclusion is that Blackboard Collaborate does not handle audio that well. But I will keep trying to get clean audio.

I am hoping to get the video and audio stream to run through Isadora, and I will keep trying to get a stable patch configuration.

      Best wishes

      Russell
