If I recall correctly in Notch the execution order of nodes is affected by where they are placed so if what you’re doing requires a specific execution order you need to understand that where the nodes are placed does actually matter.

Thank you everyone. I also hope there are ways to bring this feature back when time is right for izzy. In the meantime, I just did a test on the workaround, and I thought it might be helpful for people to see how it works. Feel free to watch and use this as your workaround to achieve very similar result.

      https://youtu.be/McuZL128MOc

summary: I recorded this demo to show the workaround for the Movie Player's freq band output trick that worked before Catalina, and for Window users too. Since the original Movie Player's freq band uses QuickTime engine, and QuickTime engine isn't supported 64 bit, post Catalina OS won't work. Isadora community users has suggested this workaround. Originally I thought it would be a lot more work due to the many audio tracks to capture live, but since Blackhole supports 16 channel virtual audio capture, and you can actually identify each channel in the sound level watcher actor, so this workaround is actually feasible.

      Hi,

PTZ cameras are one device option to look at. I am thinking perhaps the proliferation of gimbals is another - somewhat related device - that can be considered for Izzy plugin development. I have a DJI Ronin M and a Ronin S gimbal and just a quick comparison of cost suggest these possibly  provide good value and flexibility compared to the PTZ camera lineup - admittedly they are a BYO camera option. The PTZ cameras appears to have some shared protocol, but the diversity of gimbal makes and models are likely all proprietary. Still I would definitely use an Isadora Plugin that implemented gimbal control as an alternative to acquiring a PTZ camera. Specifically because the gimbal allows any number of camera types to be mounted and offer comparable functionality to PTZ.

      Just a thought.

      Best wishes

      Hi,

here's the user actor that did the 'Framing' or inserts of images in the first episode. It's got a bit more functionality than we needed, with room for 4 main inputs (in our case the cameras from each actor) which can each be scaled and positioned. Then there's an optional background layer which could obviously be anything but we often set it to a semi-transparent colour like in the screen-grab below. Finally you input a max horiz/vert size to get the shape right and set a size and colour for the outline, if you don't set these then you don't get an image. The on/off for the freeze function grabs a still and desaturates it when set to 'on'. The on/off for the gate works a bit like a bypass, this has to be 'on' to see any output.

Oh, and it's called 'No FX' because originally we made it with an option to turn the various effects on and off within the actor. We took this out because it always seemed more efficient to do this upstream of the framing, especially where we had several 'frames' within a scene and that way we only needed apply the effects once as they were always the same. So, it wasn't a deliberate punk reference, sadly.

Hello, we can only have 2 thunderbolt intensity OR 2 thunderbolt mini recorder at the same time capturing HD. But also 1 thunderbolt minirecorder and 1 thunderbolt  intensity. With the intensity usb it is the same: we can have in isadora double HD capture at the same time.  Basically Blackmagic drivers are for thunderbolt OR USB devices and one cannot mix usb AND thunderbolt but we can have 2 at the same time (maybe 3... Isadora (non qtkit) works fine with them using the usb beta 9.7.9. You cans see detailed text here with cpu speed. All running at 30 fps rock solid.

So my first live experience with Isadora at a Student (non professional) Performance in Vienna. Ideas from the fantastic workshop at Munich with Jamie and Mark are getting real.  Tracked with Kinect, NImate Ghost Image through Syphon into Isadora, music synced from Cubase with 1 Audio Track and 3 Midi Tracks (channel 1 every beat, channel 2 only first beat, channel 3 every second beat of the 3/4 time signature) Controlled via IPad and TouchOSC: 4 DMX Channels (DMX King), Mask Content, Image Multiplication, Switching Midi Trigger Channels

      http://youtu.be/k_a9AJqnc2A

I did it quite quick. Now after seeing it, I would have liked to modulate the intensity of the DMX channels. Next homework: how to integrate processing in isadora (syphon?), but I think this is a separate post...

      Hi All,

I have finished my Midi Map for the Berhinger CMD MM-1 and CMD LC-1. I've played with it a bunch but it has not been thoroughly tested.

I thought I would share it here in hopes that someone will find it useful and also to see if anyone had any feedback for me. I not 100% that I am implementing the toggling for the buttons correctly.

      All the best.

It wasn't as spooky as the people at the venue made out. Tanja spent quite a while doing some shamanic energy work and seemed to make friends with whoever was there. we heard the toilets flushing in the men's dressing room a few times, despite there being nobody else in the building at the time, but the auditorium seats were all up when we arrived the next morning. no problems with the show, in fact, on the day of the show, it wasn't even cold in there. (its a concrete building and the heating's broken, so its always cold in there)

we're applying for some funding to spend more time up there next year and do a variety of projects, so i can let you know if anything supernatural occurs...

How on earth have you done this

      HI,

      Happy to share.

This was done to demonstrate texture and material rendering of 3D asset files in Isadora. I have had inconsistent results exporting 3DS files from Blender 2.6/2.7 for use in Isadora. I switched to another 3D modeling software and this represents testing the assets in an Isadora patch.

The 3D assets were generated externally (using Cheetah3D), and included the addition of texture image files made in Photoshop with a high percentage of transparency and saved as PNG format. The PNG files have been incorporated into the 3D models material surface in the 3D modelling software, they remain external image files that Isadora must be able to find in the same folder structure as the 3D asset. There is an import caveat here, the Isadora 3D Player or 3D Model Particles will not accept an alternative texture-map input unless there is an existing texture map file that has already been incorporated through an external 3D editing process. As long as there is an external texture file present and linked to the 3D model on import into Isadora you can then change the 'texture-map' input of the 3D actors to any image or video stream - yeah!

This composition is based on stacking the 'wave generator' (sine wave and phase shift technique) almost exclusively, with limit scale actors and scaling directly within the input parameters of the particle actors. The x & y parameter settings at the bottom of the 3D Model Particles actor are used to limit the extent of the particles so that they move in circular patterns. A circular movement pattern can be created by linking the x and y inputs with Wave Generators, entering an off-set to the 'phase' inputs ). That way it is possible to keep the particles within a relationship to the bounding frame of the static stage viewport by adjusting the x and y input settings, while they still have many other degrees of patterned movement through other inputs.

You can see there are two 3D Model Particle actors, the system on the left is the sphere and the other (on the right) is the sticks/twigs. Many of the parameters are the same for both which provides movement continuity between the two elements. The sphere has a 3D Player output as a texture routed to it, when the sphere appears more solid it is actually many instances of the sphere that build up to make a semi-opaque surface with lots of inherent movement.

There are three elements composited using the Layer hierarchy: 0 = background gradient, 1 = twig particles, 2 = sphere particles. Because Isadora does not have a 3D environment interface, using layer parameters is the only way to composite 3D content and imply a shared 3D space, the 3D light orientation actor helps when set to 'global' and a shared lighting effect can be incorporated by renderer or stage.

Screen grab of the complete patch:

      best wishes

      Hi Gina,

This sounds like an interesting interactive installation! For triggering Isadora cues from the Arduino magnetic sensor, here are a few thoughts:

Use the Arduino Firmata actor to receive the sensor data into Isadora. You'll need to initialize it and set the input pin accordingly. Then route that input to a Switch actor to control the scene changes. For example, set it to switch to Scene 2 when the input goes HIGH (door closed). You can use a Timer actor in each scene to transition back to Scene 1 after a set duration. For automatic start up, you may be able to use something like a Powershell script that launches Isadora on boot up. Just need to make sure it opens in fullscreen. For shutdown without mouse/keyboard, look into remote login software so you can SSH into the Mac and shut down calendar 2024 from another computer.

Definitely try testing the Arduino > Isadora communication first. Once you have that working reliably, the other automation should be very achievable. Let me know if you have any other questions! Excited to see how this project develops.
